After an early morning breakfast, you will begin your journey to North West Uganda via Masindi. On your way to Masindi branch off at Nakasongola for a visit to the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for the guided walk to see the rhinos. You will have your lunch at Masindi Hotel and thereafter, proceed to Murchison Falls National Park. The en-route game and panoramic views make your trip fascinating and you are likely to see hippos, elephant, buffaloes, giraffes among others before you reach your hotel. Later in the evening, go for dinner and superb overnight treats at Red Chilli (budget) / Pakuba Safari Lodge (Midrange) / Paraa Safari Lodge (Luxury)
Day 2: Game Drive and Launch trip:
You will start your day by enjoying an early morning cup of coffee or African tea and then go for a morning game drive on the Northern bank of the Mighty River Nile. This life experience tour offers you fantastic views of Elephants, Buffaloes, Giraffes, Hartebeests, Bushbucks, lions and a variety of bird species. You will return to your lodge for lunch.
In the afternoon, proceed for a boat trip upstream on the serene Victoria Nile, upstream, to the base of the falls. This launch offers views of lots of hippos, crocodiles, elephants, giraffes, leopards, hyenas, oribis, lions, bushbucks and varieties of birds. Generally the trip blesses you with abundant bird life, beautiful scenery and photographic opportunities.
Day 3: Birding on the Delta and Game Drive to the Top of the Falls
Wake up for an early morning game drive in Murchison Falls National Park. Go for a birding expedition along the Nile Delta. This is one of the most scenic areas, the place where the River Nile meets Lake Albert. Have your binoculars ready for the rich bird life including the Shoebill stork, Goliath Heron and Grey Crowned Crane. Return to the lodge for lunch.
After lunch hop in the car for a game drive along the newly opened Tebio Track finishing with a short walk down to the Top of the Falls on the north of the bank. A drive to the top of the falls enables you to get a first-hand experience of seeing a calm and peaceful River Nile turning into an aggressive and terribly dangerous fall at a point where this Africa’s longest river is forced deep down about 45m through a narrow gap in the rock (only 7 meters wide). Spend the night in a lodge in Budongo Forest.
Day 4: Budongo Forest Chimpanzee primate watch and return to Kampala:
You will explore Rabongo forest on a guided forest trek to see different primates such as Baboons, Red-tailed monkeys, Black & White Colobus monkeys, Chimpanzees as well as birds, medicinal plants and trees.
You can also track man’s closest relatives – the Chimpanzee in Kaniyo Pabidi, an unadulterated natural forest within Budongo Forest Reserve as you get exposure and pleasure in other attractive features of the forest including mature Mahogany and ironwood trees. You will automatically be entertained by the sights and sounds of varieties of forest birds, such as the White-thigh Hornbill, Chocolate backed Kingfisher, and Puvel’s Illadopsis found nowhere else in East Africa!
You will depart to Kampala having lunch en route and arriving in the evening.
